Marriage Records | Drakkar Sauna, have been making music and records since 2003. Wallace Cochran
and Jeff Stolz, who comprise its essential elements, have been enemies for much
longer. They met for the first time in Pittsburgh, PA in the early 1990s, when both
were in short pants. In 2001 they met again at a gas station in Columbia, MO.
Wallace gave Jeff a copy of Civil War Land in Bad Decline to try to end the feud, but it
was not to be. A year later they were two members of the four-piece band Vular, again
in Pittsburgh. Here they discovered their blasted harmonies, the beauty of which
cursed them both to nearly a decade of companionship. In 2007 after the release of
their third full length Jabraham Lincoln they agreed to put out two more records before
settling their age’d grudge. In 2008 they released Wars and Tornadoes, an homage to the
Louvin Brothers. Their new record 20009 (pronounced two thousand-ousand nine) is
about the development of the rocket from Hermes Trismegistus and the cults of
ancient Egypt to the twenty-third century. The release of the record will coincide with
the publication of a companion novel The Moon For Its Citizens, written by Cochran.
Stolz and Cochran are joined by Jason Groth, Michael Kapinus, Mark Rice of
Magnolia Electric Company, Chris Barth and Aaron Deer of The Impossible Shapes,
and Jill Sahiba Nielsen-Farrell. The record is dedicated in memory to their friend
Evan Farrell.
