Ursula 1000's 'Mondo Beyondo' Set for August 9th Release on ESL

Brooklyn based producer/DJ/multi-instrumentalist Alex Gimeno aka Ursula 1000 has always taken on a broad scope of styles of the years. From retro tinged spy themes, disco, electro, go-go pop ... he never stops evolving. He's put the finishing touches on his newest full length album entitled Mondo Beyondo, which is out in North America via ESL Music on August 9th, 2011. Drenched in snarling fuzz, heavy-hitting drums and his signature ominous organ stylings, this new collection of tracks sees Gimeno geting back in touch with his roots but channeling it through a new set of kaleidoscopic eyes. The first single "Répétez Le Repertoire," featuring the influential Isabelle Antena, is available now as a free download. Other guests on the forthcoming album include Thievery Corporation chanteuse Natalia Clavier, Fred Schneider of the B-52s , Kingsized's Mike Geier, and newcoming Gina Rox. All guitars, bass, electric sitar, organs, synthesizers, percussion, drum programming and electronic tonalities were performed by Gimeno himself.
"With "Répétez Le Repetoire", I was definitely channeling my love for the first Deee-Lite album," Gimeno says. "That album was a huge influence for me. That and probably a little bit of Kraftwerk as the whole track is all synthesizers. When I started toying with the idea of doing something cheeky and French, I immediately thought of Isabelle Antena. I worked with her on a remix for her track "Love Is To Blame" from her album, Toujours du Soleil . I'll admit I felt a little silly asking her to say all these cliche French phrases but she's a champion and had a lot of fun with it."
Gimeno has covered a lot of ground over the years, creating some sheer magic on four albums and a handful of remix albums. He's remixed the likes of Quincy Jones, Felix Da Housecat, The Faint, and Fort Knox Five (to name a few), has been remixed by everyone from Ladytron to Deekline, and has collaborated with peers Los Amigos Invisibles and Frederico Aubele . He's a regular at European clubs like Fabric and the Shambhala Music Festival, and can be heard regularly on the show Guilty Pleasures via BrooklynRadio. A handful of North American and European dates are already set for the summer, including Summer Stage in Central Park, and the Joshua Tree Music Festival.
