Still Flyin' Release Delightfully Bizarre Video For "Victory Walker", New 7" Out October 5th On Ernest Jenning

San Franciscan collective Still Flyin' have released the video for "Victory Walker" (2AM), taken from their outstanding upcoming 7" Victory Walker (out on Ernest Jenning on the 5th October). Watch this endlessly amusing homage to the 80s, "Victory Walker" is "Club Tropicana" when the pool and the drinks have ran dry or Miami Vice on the verge of a double-dip recession.
Band leader Sean Rawls gives us his take on the inspiration behind this video: "Athens, Georgia. 4am. Sunday night. Desolation. Exhaustion. Feeling strung-out. Life examinations. Spirit tests."
"Victory Walker is a song about a lonely dude who stalks the Night and I wanted a video to capture the feel of that. Bren [percussion] and I were recently in Athens, GA for a couple of weeks to record an album with another band we're in (Masters Of The Hemisphere). Mindy [vocals] was around the area for her sister's wedding. Ice and OJ live in Atlanta. Five Still Flyin' jammers was all we needed for this film. Ice and Ian and Sharky were locals who have film making prowess (Ian in particular helped with the Ghost Town video and works on big time rap videos for a living).
"Our only opportunity to do this was a Sunday night. In Georgia, you can't sell alcohol on Sundays out of respect to their Lord Jesus Christ, so everything is totally shut down on Sunday night. A city of shadows. Add to that that it we filmed until 4am (those bits of me walking the streets were the last thing we did), and it was this very surreal and perfect foundation - a town without a single soul on the streets except for one: the Victory Walker."
Still Flyin' emerged from San Francisco as a much-loved indie-party band, who quickly became one of the most unique, must-see live shows in the Bay Area. Averaging 15 members, Still Flyin' have always had a taste for the unexpected. Their latest, A Party In Motion sees them shed their well-worn reggae outer-garments in favour of something a whole lot NEU!er.
Known across the spheres for their uplifting party jams, unhinged stage show and general sense of throw-down, the gargantuan San Franciscan collective (at times featuring members of Love Is All, Architecture in Helsinki, The Aisler Set and The Lucksmiths) have adopted a more pulsating, repetitive backdrop on these new releases to match their newfound urge to roll the melodies out one-by-one, layer upon layer, making for an epic listen and an even more epic dance party. Under the guidance of producer Haima Marriott (Architecture in Helsinki), Still Flyin' have bravely leapt from their comfort zone, while keeping their carefree credo intact.
"Shout-outs to Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue" and Lipps Inc.'s "Funky Town" jostle elbows with nods to Swedish pop and show-tune punk, and it's all channeled through a North American indie sensibility." Pitchfork Media
"Still Flyin' are a jaw-dropping live act that pack even more excitement into their show than you'd expect from a band of more than a dozen members. Everyone on stage was throwing themselves into the performance - especially the really tall guy who only seemed to enthusiastically dance behind the lead singer. I love the idea that a nationally touring band would bring along a guy just to dance." You Ain't No Picasso
"Fun is the new not-fun, and Still Flyin' exemplifies that ethos...Still Flyin' is a sweet-ass band." SF Weekly
