"We travel the world. We have whirlwind romances. We are sex symbols. We are surrounded by beautiful and interesting people because we want to and make it happen. If we can do it, you can do it. We want to be that example." - Scream Club

Scream Club, the self-described "queer electro sex hop hip punk rock glam rap duo" are two freaky white rapper sensations stopping hearts everywhere. Cindy Wonderful had been living in Olympia, Washington for only three days when she first met Sarah Adorable at the local porn shop. Sarah was the assistant manager when she encountered Cindy, who was there submitting a job application. She didn't get the job, but gained an "insta-girlfriend" and a true blue music partner instead. Sarah explains, "We dated for six months before starting Scream Club, and that basically started because Cindy was doing solo stuff but was unhappy with it and with performing alone, so we decided to perform a show together. It was at a roller rink and was great. Everyone roller skated around us. We did dance moves that we'd been practicing all the time and it was really cool so we kept doing it. At first, a lot of the songs were songs Cindy wrote and then we started of course writing together and now its much more collaborative." Nearly three years later, their romantic relationship ended, but they remain each other's best friend while the Scream Club fanbase has grown larger than ever.

Sharing a love for 80s pop music, bling bling hip-hop, adventure, romance, decadent luxury, feminism, queer culture and anarchy, Scream Club wear their influences on their sleeve and have created a cult-like following. Using a DIY ethic and the power of MySpace, they have toured the U.S. and Europe extensively. Performing in arenas, triple-story dance clubs, punk venues, squats, rooftops and basements, their wild stage performances are legendary. Varying from night to night, Scream Club's live shows are a special treat and often include a band of misfit dancers from Olympia, funky dance moves, bubble machines, chicken costumes, crowd participation and nude finales. The ultimate message behind Scream Club contributes to their popularity. Cindy states, "Do what you want, no matter how crazy or unrealistic it seems. It's totally possible. No matter what obstacles are in front of you, no matter what people tell you. Believe in yourself. We live on our music. We travel the world. We have whirlwind romances. We are sex symbols. We are surrounded by beautiful and interesting people because we want to and make it happen. If we can do it, you can do it. We want to be that example."

Scream Club's debut album Don't Bite Your Sister was released by indie label Tiny Sensational in 2004. Featuring guest appearances by Beth Ditto (The Gossip), Amy Fantastic (Rainbow Sugar, Cindy Wonderful's former band), West Coast underground heavyweights Busdriver, Subtitle and Shape Shifter members AWOL One, Existereo and Die, this album introduced their musical sensibility and included love songs, political jams and party songs, all with tight lyrics and killer hooks. While honing their songwriting skills and assembling a cast of gifted producers, Scream Club would spend the next two years working on their new masterpiece for Alpha Pup Records, Life of a Heartbreaker.

Life of a Heartbreaker was inspired by their own life experiences. Sarah explains, "Both albums are reflections of our lives, so really the new album is just more current. It reflects things like us touring in Europe, going through our most recent breakups and having long distance romances while on tour." Love, heartbreak, frustration, international adventures, being drunk, girl gangs and having fun are some of the album's themes. The producer cast consists of French musicians Electrosexual, Leonard de Leonard and Sid Abitball, UK garage DJ Genuine Guy, and American allies Joey Casio, Ben Adorable and LA Jae. Guest vocalists include Peaches, Nicky Click, Busdriver, AWOL One, Existereo, Life Rexall, Rhani Remedes (of Veronica Lipgloss and the Evil Eyes) and more. The opportunity to work with Peaches was a special highlight for Cindy. "Peaches came to one of our shows in Berlin. We met and hung out with her and kept in touch. We did the song ('Fine as Fuck') over the Internet. It was intimidating to work with her because she's fucking cool. It was an honor."

Consisting of 12 tracks of pulsating beats, funky bass lines and catchy melodies, Life of a Heartbreaker invites the listener to join Scream Club's private party. The album's first track "Life of a Heartbreaker" is, as the title implies, a light-hearted look at being a heartbreaker. Next comes "Prot©g©" featuring Scream Club's real-life prot©g©, fellow Olympian Nicky Click. With an infectious call-and-response hook ("I wanna be your Dr. Dre, I wanna be your prot©g©") and a supremely bumping beat, the song is destined to become a club classic. Third track "I'm Going Crazy" is about "feeling disconnected and unsure when it looks like you have everything you want." Fourth track "You Make Me Smile" is a playful ode to having a romantic crush ("You and me go together like Nutella and crepes"). "Fine As Fuck" comes next, featuring female rap icon Peaches. Another self-explanatory title, the girls wax poetic about hot queer sex. "Drunk" is based on a true drunk-dialing episode when the Screams "called famous queer band Twin at 4 a.m. one morning." "Spit and Glitter" is a dark, atmospheric track about a fierce girl gang roaming the streets. "Internationale" is about Scream Club's travels around the world. "How Bad" addresses the reality and sadness of romantic break-ups ("You ate dinner with my parents, slept in my childhood bed and now our relationship is held together by a thread"). The posse cut "Intoxicating" examines the rapper lifestyle, while "On My Mind" touches on perplexing relationships. The album closes with Ben Adorable's goth remix of "Fine As Fuck."

In addition to touring this fall in support of their new album, Scream Club remain hard at work launching Crunks Not Dead, their record label that features up-and-coming electronic artists from Olympia's explosive music scene. In the next ten years, both Cindy and Sarah plan to own homes and continue making music. Cindy envisions herself "relaxing and having important business meetings in my hot tub" while Sarah hopes to have a "hot house boy, make more films, and fly my lovers around the world for whirlwind romances." The life of a heartbreaker indeed.
