Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., a project started by two professional men of music and leisure from Detroit, MI (Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott), is an embrace of many fringe musical styles while still maintaining an emphasis on quality songwriting. To build from the ground up, recording in a basement without the benefit of expensive microphones or big-name producers, while also building top-down with the use of drum machines and samplers - keeping the music dance-able, interesting, and unique while not distracting. Whether a folk duo and hip hop beats can collide harmoniously these days remains to be seen... But Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is certainly trying

On their debut release, Horse Power EP, one finds a quasi-psych mix of folk, hip-hop inspired drum programming, and effervescent pop. Machining a series of chicanes, straightaways, washboards, and u-turns that when assembled together on this EP make for quite the interesting ride

In the lead off track, 'Nothing But Our Love', the band intones "Don't try, don't try so hard, my love is easy." The music is easy to become infatuated with, as if they hooked directly into your pleasure receptors and refused to relent. But it also possesses an amount of depth that makes you want to become a loyal partner. 'Nothing But Our Love' is now being given away for free via their website: daleearnhardtjrjr.com
