Xela is Walsall born Manchester resident John Twells. After badgering away tirelessly on lo-fi rock, punk and metal throughout his high school years, John eventually tired of angular guitar noise and began to dabble with electronics and broken drum machines. The results of his teenage tinkerings were released on UK label Neo Ouija as 'For Frosty Mornings and Summer Nights'. Soon
aftwards he recorded an album using the trusty acoustic guitar, it was an album of love songs, based on the classic indie music he knew and loved and was released on the City Centre Offices label entitled 'Tangled Wool'. In October 2006 a new album was be released; called 'The Dead Sea' it is a darker and more experimental album than his previous work, taking in influence from years of travelling, his collection of instruments and an obsessive love of Italian horror movies.
