A serious contender as one of LA's most promising new bands, Rainbow Arabia, consists of married couple Danny & Tiffany Preston who have married American experimental dance music with a heavy dose of Middle Eastern influence. With growling synthesizers, Arabic guitar riffing, a mixture of drum machines and live percussion, and Tiffany's strangely palatable call-to-war vocals, Rainbow Arabia fuses the dancable sounds of electro and world music with the youthful energy of punk. Already attracting an early buzz, UK label Merok who has released records from Crystal Castles, The Teenagers, and Klaxons will be releasing The Basta and their upcoming LP overseas.
Out of the ashes of echodelic dub soundmob Future Pigeon and Licorice Piglet, Danny and Tiffany formed Rainbow Arabia in early 2008. In their brief existence, the two have played extensively in Southern California mesmerizing crowds with their psychedelic future primitive dance experience. The songs from the upcoming Basta EP were recorded at their home studio in Echo Park, where they are currently working on their upcoming full-length. The Basta will be released by their own imprint Tiny Man with distribution from Manimal Vinyl (Bat For Lashes, Hecuba).
Their debut single "Omar K" has been flooding the airwaves on KXLU in LA and they have just been featured on Indie 103.1's new music show Dead Air. Recently, they performed a prime time spot at the first annual Manimal Festival in Joshua Tree earlier this summer and are planning a full US tour with labelmates and fellow neo-primitives Hecuba. They also have confirmed a slot at this upcoming CMJ Music Marathon with Ariel Pink and they have been commisioned to remix Telepathe on an upcoming 12" on Merok.
This fall, they will appear on Manimal's upcoming tribute to The Cure (all proceeds benefit the Invisible Children charity) and they will be finishing their first full length for Manimal Vinyl which will be out late 2008/early 2009.
